As ‘people of the water’, the Wounaan are dependent upon what the river provides, and tools such as this are essential to their daily lives. The individual anzuelos are placed in the water overnight, and then collected—along with their catch—come morning.
Given the nature and story of these Werregue palm pendants, the tightly woven fiber results in an opaque shade, with a focused spot light emanating from the bottom mouth of the fixture.
