Michoacán Collection
Bedcover$675.00For this bedcover, undyed wool—in a natural variety of greys, whites and browns—is spun together to create a uniquely thick yarn with its own nuanced tones. The plush wool rows are then wrapped with a thin natural cotton thread, encasing them like a cocoon and resulting in a softly-ridged texture. The bedcovers are woven in three sections, with a graduated progression of color and weight.

Bedcover$675.00Woven on a two-pedal loom, this bedcover incorporates three different handspun cottons. The intertwining of the black warp and undyed cotton weft results in nuanced shades of black, white and grey–while a very thin, hand-dyed indigo thread runs through the canvas of the weave, resulting in subtle rivers of color.

Bedcover$675.00Incorporating a technique developed in the workshop in the 1970’s, the weave of this bedcover combines a cotton warp with a wool weft, working with yarns of varying thicknesses. The gathered ‘pockets’ are the result of the deft work of a single person expertly manipulating a 4-pedal–loom: each of the two warps relies on a different tension, resulting in the little pockets of fabric that characterize this distinctive design.

These blankets, known as batania, are woven exclusively for L’Aviva Home in a tiny weaving studio hidden down narrow pathways on the outskirts of the Marrakesh Medina. Woven from wool that is handspun by Berber women in the Sirioua Valley and trimmed with dramatically oversized pompoms, these heirloom textiles are a stylized rendition of the traditional blankets used to protect against freezing temperatures in the high Atlas Mountains.

Fez Bedcover$665.00 – $690.00The bedcoverings in this collection represent a pairing of Moroccan traditions. The cotton panels draw on the weaving done for centuries to create haik—a traditional, long rectangular woman’s garment that wraps and drapes around the body. Our blankets, woven on pedal looms in the town of Ouazzane, mimic the weave and coloration of the haik, while the individual panels of the blankets are then bound by varying embroidery (tarz) stitches, in both traditional and modernized renditions.
With a textured, ribbed weave achieved by spinning seven individual cotton threads together, the blankets have a soft, organic heft.
